Funded by Friday Media Group, the FMG Project was established to make sport and fitness accessible to everyone, regardless of background. The goal was to create a multi-purpose facility where people of all ages could train, learn and develop both physically and mentally. Gym Gear was selected to design, equip and install the gym, ensuring the space reflected the project’s inclusive mission.

The Challenge
The FMG Project aimed to go beyond creating a typical gym. Its objectives were to:
Provide access to sport, education and facilities for those who may not otherwise have the opportunity
Offer pathways to sporting excellence
Encourage young people to channel their energy positively
Inspire healthier lifestyles and positive attitudes
Develop key life skills such as commitment, communication and teamwork
The design needed to accommodate a wide variety of users, from youth groups to adult classes, while keeping the space flexible for group activities and educational sessions.
The Solution
Gym Gear worked closely with Friday Media Group to establish an equipment wishlist that reflected the FMG Project’s diverse training needs. The in-house design team produced 3D visuals, enabling the client to visualise the balance between equipment capacity and open training zones.
Once the layout was approved, installation began, delivering a complete functional and strength training environment.

The Result
The FMG Project now features a dynamic, warehouse-style gym that supports functional fitness, strength and circuit training. The facility embodies the project’s mission to promote health, inclusivity and opportunity through sport.
More than just a gym, it is a community hub designed to empower individuals, inspire motivation and build lifelong positive habits.
