Marches School, Oswestry

"We’re extremely pleased with the new fitness suite – it’s an inspiring space that encourages participation and supports a wide range of activities."

— Marches School

Marches School, a coeducational secondary with sixth form, required a fitness space that would engage students of all abilities while supporting a variety of training methods. Gym Gear was selected to lead the project from concept to completion, ensuring the new facility aligned with the school’s fitness objectives and long-term development goals.

The Challenge

Marches School needed a functional and engaging gym that could accommodate both structured PE lessons and independent workouts. The brief included flooring, mirrors, and ancillaries, so precise planning was required to make full use of the available space. The design had to balance versatility with practicality, ensuring the environment worked equally well for large groups and individual users.

The Solution

Our design team began by developing detailed 2D layouts to calculate flooring requirements and equipment placement. These plans were then turned into a 3D visualisation, allowing the school to see exactly how the final space would look and function before installation.

The final installation featured a comprehensive mix of Gym Gear equipment, including:

  • Cardio equipment: T98 Treadmills, X97 Cross Trainers, C97 Upright Bikes, Tornado Airbike, and Ski Ergs
  • Strength equipment: Pro Series Chest Press, Shoulder Press, Seated Row, Lat Pulldown/Low Row, Leg Extension, Seated Leg Curl, Leg Press, Dual Adjustable Pulley, Sterling Series Half Power Racks, and Adjustable Benches
  • Free weights: 2.5-25kg Rubber Dumbbell Set, Standard Olympic Bars, and Hi-Impact Olympic Plates
  • Accessories and flooring: Sports Mats and 20mm Premium Rubber Flooring Tiles in free weight zones

The Result

Delivered on time and to full specification, the new fitness suite provides a durable, high-quality training environment that supports both the PE curriculum and wider student wellbeing. The combination of cardio, strength, and free weight zones ensures the facility caters to varied ability levels and training preferences.

The gym now plays a key role in promoting physical activity and engagement across the school community, establishing a foundation for health and fitness that will benefit students for years to come.
