Objectives
Bradford Council enlisted our help to establish a fresh workout environment that would inspire and re-energise their members. One of the main objectives was the provision of an all inclusive facility for the local community that would cater to the needs of all members regardless of their fitness level or ability.
Gym Design & Layout
The most challenging part of this project was designing a gym that incorporated all the requested equipment within the very unusual shape of the room.
To ensure the refurbished facility was providing a training environment suitable for all users, we carefully assessed the space available and designed a layout which incorporated various training zones.
The key addition was a functional training space which ensures that Keighley Leisure can offer current fitness trends and the most up to date training methods.
Equipment Selection
For this project we brought together the very best pieces of equipment from across our range.
The new functional zone features the Gym Gear Spartan Studio Rig complete with a wide range of accessories, providing a multitude of strength / functional workout options for exercisers of all abilities, during both individual and group training.
For the new cardio zones we provided a selection of our premium Gym Gear 98e Series CV equipment. The high definition touch screens will engages users with access to TV, internet, fitness apps and Virtual Go interactive workouts. Alongside the more traditional cardio selection, we also incorporated a number of specialist HIIT machines including Tornado Bikes, Stairmaster Gauntlets, Concept 2 rowers and Stairmaster Upper Body Trainers.
The strength zone was also carefully designed. We incorporated a wide range of Gym Gear Elite Series strength machines arranged in islands which group together upper and lower body machines.
Finishing Touches
We completed the transformation by carefully selecting flooring to replace the worn-out carpet.
The main gym now features a modern and stylish Karndean floor, the functional area features 10mm rubber flooring and the free weights zone features 30mm rubber tiles complete with a branded oak lifting platform.
Each flooring type is not only suited to the particular gym zone, but they are also easy to clean and have modernised the look and feel of the facility.
Outcome
Establishing this versatile training environment makes it available for members of all fitness levels and abilities. With zones clearly defined through specialist flooring, the space works well as a whole but also offers something different in each individual zone.
We were pleased to turn this project around in just 8 weeks ready for a fresh and fit 2018!
