Objective
With new modern gyms opening on their doorstep it was vital for Bactive to take action to improve their facility and modernise to keep their loyal members whilst growing their membership!
Design
The gym design needed to make space for a larger free weights area and functional training area whilst maintaining the same number of strength machines and increasing the range of cardio to include HIIT cardio. This meant drastically changing the old layout and being more efficient with the positioning of machines on the new layout to create space. Several versions of the plan were created on our 3D gym design software before coming up with the final design.
Equipment installed
New gym gear 98 and 97 series cardio was installed along with a range of HITT cardio equipment including the infamous Tornado air bikes, Curve 2.0 curved treadmill, Stairmaster Gauntlets, Jacobs Ladder and Ski Ergs. The HIIT Equipment is located close to the functional area so it can be used in small group training sessions as well as for standalone gym users. Including HIIT equipment in small group training sessions is becoming increasingly popular because it adds variety and intensity to the workout. Keeping up with the demand for more free weights, a Sterling Series Half Rack has to be installed alongside the existing free weights. The half-rack is more versatile than a full power rack allowing users to step out with the bar to perform other ground based exercises like deadlifts as well as performing all the rack based exercises, squats, military press, chest press, calf raise, inverted row, shrugs, etc.
Outcome
The gym now has a bright future after winning a corporate contract with British aerospace so their staff can use the facilities, and more of the local community joining up to enjoy the new equipment and greater range of training options now available.
