Body Culture

Body Culture is a modern state of the art new fitness facility based in Chorley, Lancashire. The Brainchild of owners PT Luke Davidson and Scott Davies, Body Culture opened its doors in December 2018, catering for all, ranging from gym novices to more advanced gym users.

Objective

The vision of Luke and Scott was to create a state of the art fitness centre where people can go and reach their goals either individually (taking advantage of the expert advice on hand) or in group training. The facility needed to cater for a variety of training styles and so selecting the right mix of equipment was essential.

Gym Design & Planning

This was an exciting project to work on from a design perspective because we started with a blank canvas and a clear vision from the owners for the type of gym Body Culture would be. Floor materials, lighting and wall art had to be carefully considered to create the desired ambience throughout this facility. Our 3D gym design software was used to help plan the space and create a virtual tour of the gym prior to the opening.

Body Culture has an open plan design with the main gym arranged in different zones for cardio, HITT cardio, selectorised strength, plate loaded and free weights. The second room is a large studio designed for group training and functional training, with training rig and sled track.

Equipment Installed

Body Culture has a diverse range of equipment catering for general gym users alongside functional fitness, HIIT, strength and conditioning, and group training. In the cardio zone, a range of Gym Gear CV has been installed including the new Blade 2.0 Rowers and Tornado bike. The ever-popular Stairmaster Gauntlets have been positioned along the wall either side of the T98 treadmills. The Elite Series Strength range was chosen for its compact footprint and dual functionality on machines like the Lat Pulldown / Low row and Leg Extension / Leg Curl.

Moving further into the gym is the plate loaded zone comprising of the heavy duty Sterling Series machines for members who appreciate exceptional ergonomics and want to push themselves a bit further. The plate loaded zone is appropriately located next to the free weights zone where a large selection of dumbbells, adjustable and Olympic benches, lifting platform, half rack and smith machine can be found. In the functional gym members can enjoy prowler sprints and sled pulls down the sled track, a variety of functional exercises on the wall mounted rig, boxing, group training and studio equipment. The flooring in each zone varies in thickness and material. In the entrance, a vinyl floor covers the reception, seating and cafe area. Gym Gear 15mm rubber tiles were fitted in the functional gym and strength areas, alongside 30mm tiles in the free weights area.

Outcome

The ethos of Body Culture is evident throughout the entire gym, with the diverse range of equipment, through to the level of personal service you receive as soon as you walk through the doors. The attention to detail is visible everywhere you look, from the wall art and flooring to the customised branding of the equipment. This is a fantastic facility for the residents of Chorley and beyond, a place they can join a community of like-minded people supporting one another to reach their fitness goals.
