The challenge:
The school wanted to move beyond traditional PE setups and introduce a fitness space that reflected the pace and energy of modern training. It needed to support a range of users – from full PE classes to smaller sports teams – while incorporating functional training, HIIT, and cardio conditioning. The design also had to ensure durability and practicality, with enough open space for group movement and adaptable workout zones.
The solution:
Gym Gear supplied and installed a complete mix of equipment tailored to Lostock High School’s objectives, including:
-
Hurricane Air Bikes
-
Row Max 2.0 Rowers
-
M Sport Elite Bikes
-
Ski Max 2.0
-
Curve 2.0 Treadmills with adjustable resistance
The strength and functional training areas were anchored by the Elite Series Half Rack and a HIIT Max Functional Rig, fitted with multiple attachments and accessories to support circuit training and varied group sessions.
To enhance performance-focused activities, a sprint track was installed for speed and agility drills, while 20mm rubber flooring throughout provided durability, sound control, and a safe surface for high-intensity training.
The design followed Gym Gear’s four pillars of fitness space planning – creating an inspiring training environment, promoting progression across all levels, encouraging group interaction, and offering diverse training options.
The result:
The completed gym gives Lostock High School a professional, high-energy facility that supports both physical education and sports performance. Teachers can now deliver structured, varied PE lessons, and student athletes benefit from improved access to sport-specific conditioning.
Lostock High School’s new fitness space demonstrates how educational environments can integrate modern training principles to build strength, confidence, and lifelong fitness habits among students.
