The purpose of the new fitness suite at St Thomas More High School was to create an engaging and motivating environment for both students and staff.
Gym Design & Planning
Planning for the fitness suite was key in this project as the school not only required fitness equipment, but also flooring and other ancillaries. The planning ensured that all floor measurements were correct and that all equipment fitted into position. Creating 2D designs of the fitness suite allowed us to workout required flooring quantities and location as well as the size and positioning of additional items such as mirrors. Re-creating these designs in 3D allowed us and the school to have a visualisation of the concept.
11 pieces of cardiovascular equipment have been installed (3 x T95 Treadmills, 3 x X95 Cross Trainers, 2 x C95 Upright Bikes, 2 x Blade 2.0 Rowers, 1 x Tornado Airbike) along with 7 strength machines (Elite Series Chest Press, Pec Fly/Rear Delt, Lat Pulldown/Low Row, Leg Extension/Leg Curl, Leg Press/Calf Raise, Dual Adjustable Pulley, Chin/Dip/Knee Raise). Many of the strength machines were multi-functional to provide student and staff with exercise diversity. These machines were supplemented with rubber dumbbells, multi-adjustable benches, 3-in-1 Plyometric Boxes, a variety of power bands, sports mats, abdominal wheel and skipping ropes. 16mm Rubber Flooring was also installed in the weights area along with 6mm thick wall mirrors.
The result is that the install of the fitness suite has been perfectly executed to meet the curricular and extra-curricular needs of the students and staff.
